bailey • freshman

bailey is tyler's brother. it was just as easy taking photos of him as it was his older brother.

even though we only got a few photos of him, i think he did really well and got some good shots that i hope his mom will like.

i'm back

can you tell? i may be posting a bit more often once i can get this new school year's schedule down. oh, and 3 in soccer. and scouts. and other stuff i am sure i am forgetting.
but i am back. and thank you everyone for your patience!!!

kerri • expecting

this stunning mom is a good friend of a good friend.
we went to the botanical gardens and it was so beautiful outside. i worried that it was going to be a bit chilly, after all it was the beginning of april, but it was warm. sunny. just wonderful for photos. or anything outside. and can you believe this mom thinks she isn't photogenic?
i will argue with her until i am blue in the face. she is a natural.

declan's family

this family is so cute. i know, that sounds like a word for little kids. but can i use it for this family? just this once. i mean it in the best way. the way that means adorable, delightful, lovable, sweet... the best way and ways cute can be taken. for a family. for a baby boy. for a mom. for a dad. the best way possible. promise.
so, that's what they are. cute.
sorry, zach.
the parents are both so very nice. all the time. i haven't ever seen nikky without a smile and a nice thing to say. and declan has to be the sweetest little guy. he is always happy. (right, nikky?) even when he was done at the end of the session, he was happy. tired, but happy. oh, and zach is great too. i don't want to leave him out. he is always pleasant and personable and was so eager and willing. which is always refreshing.

so, thank you guys for a wonderful session, even though we might have been less hot and miserable in a sauna. in our winter coats. and snow pants. okay, okay, and a rabbit fur hat. and a scarf.

see what i mean? cute. for nikky, cute=gorgeous.

so behind...

well, i am so very backed up on posting. but being gone for most of the summer just might be the cause. and i am still gone. it is strange how fast it has all happened. this summer flew by. crazy fast.

but, i will get back to posting some photos from my favorite sessions. wait, did i say favorite? yes, i did. but you know what? each of the sessions i have done has been a favorite in some way. something sets each session apart and makes it my favorite. so, if i tell you your session was my favorite, i am being honest. seriously. i have loved all of the sessions i have done. each one is unique in it's own way. and maybe working with wonderful people is all the difference.

i can't help looking at all the faces that have come into my life and feel a strong connection to each. a very dear bond that i feel when i look at them through the camera and see just what beautiful, wonderful people they each are. you are. it is a very different feeling. i can't describe it. but it's great. awesome.

so a big thanks to each of you. each of the amazing families, couples and individuals i have worked with this past year! it has been so much fun for me, and i hope you have something you will love for years to come.

these kids love each other so much.

reflection

i have a thing for reflections. and i think they know it. the reflections, that is.

July 4, 2010

blue

it is so hot here in the summer. and hot means red. orange. warm colors.

can you tell that lil' miss candy had been gathering salt and was drizzling it on the ground as if it were sand? that is what her hand is doing in that awkward position.

looking at these photos from last month makes me feel cooler. maybe it's all the blue.
i had planned on having them wear pink. bright pink. and then blue. but monkey spit black licorice out onto her pink shirt. ruined it for any sort of wear right then. so, we were left with only blue. and that's ok. maybe all blue looks ok. either way, the girls had lots of fun out there.

and here are some surprising photos. this was one of those rare occasions when i handed my camera over to the girls. and i am so happy i did.

i liked this place so much, i would love to go back and stay longer. let the kids run more. farther. and bring my boy along.

ok, one more... she came in close and i was falling over. so, i think it's funny.
(this was the photo that preceded the kissy cheek photo)

just a photo

there is no real reason for posting this photo. well, other than that. it's a photo. and i took it.

i took it while walking around bonne terre in mississippi.
and that's all i have to say about it.

maybe i am experiencing an abundant lack of vocabulary lately because of the heat. maybe it's from the late hours. maybe, just maybe, it's because of my 4 beautiful kid-batteries that seem to recharge themselves off of me. all day. every day. all summer long. they take energy from me and i can't seem to find something to take energy from myself. to replenish my supplies. i would love to run around crazy like they do, and not tire from it.

should i take up drinking red bull? or any form of caffeine?

maybe i do have something to say about this photo. it looks peaceful to me right now at this hour of night. i would love to lay on the warm ground and watch the grass sway in the breeze above me. peacefully.
peace sounds good.

natural

i love photos like this.

where the family is just being together. unposed. natural.
yes, there are a few people not looking at the camera. ok, only jayden is looking. and yes, brennon is sticking his tongue out at his mom. but i think this is such a cute, fun photo. maybe it is the mood i am in tonight, but i like this one.
a lot.
it just feels like "them" to me.

June 18, 2010

just one

i just can't help posting this one photo from a session today. it was so hot, humid and muggy that nothing was dry. and it was only 9 in the morning. it was 86°, but the humidity makes it feel 10 degrees hotter. no joke. that's what weather.com said.
but this sweet girl looked and acted like it was a pleasant 72° outside.

behind

yes, i am so far behind. we got home last night after a wonderful vacation. it was great getting back to be with family for a few weeks. we don't get to do that often enough. we all know how busy life gets, right?
but, anyway, i am behind, but hoping to catch up soon on everything i've done the past few months. i have two maternity sessions, two family sessions, two newborn sessions, and our vacation to post. pfew. better get started.

have a wonderful summer, everyone!

emory and aspen • twins

these twin girls are SO cute! i loved working with them. i had never worked with twins before, and their mom was so nice to let me try.

aspen was a bit more feisty at first, so we took some photos of emory by herself.
and then emory was the spunky one. so, it was aspen's turn.

(for some reason their individual shots didn't post. yet. i will get to them when i get back.)

i knew it would be hard to keep two babies satisfied and sleepy, but they were really good. i found it funny, however, that when one was out, the other wanted to play. without fail. it made me want to laugh. but that would have awakened both babies.
right at the end of our session they both wanted to sleep.

one more of aspen.

and one more of emory.

i will confess that at first i was embarrassed to admit that i was, in fact, going for a heart shape in this next photo, because i thought i had failed. but after a few people told me it looked like a heart, without me asking, i am now ok with admitting that, yes, i was trying to make them look like a heart.
a natural heart.

school photos

aspen, ani & noah's mom wasn't super excited about the photos these three had taken at school last fall. so, we decided to head up to a building i knew about, that had a background similar in color to school photos, and try our own.

i will definitely be doing this for my kids this fall. and i wonder if maybe i should invite others to join me?
